Why does my tortoise sleep all day?

My tortoise seems to sleep all day until I wake him. Once awake he eats then usually goes back to sleep. He recently got an eye infection but I'm treating him for that. But could the eye infection be the reason he's sleeping all day? He's a medditeranion sper thighed tortoise about 1 year old
