What did Kant mean by David Hume awoke him from his dogmatic slumbers?

For the empiricist Hume, knowledge is confined to experience. But for the rationalist Kant, though knowledge begins at the instance of experience, knowledge is not confined to it. Kant wanted to say that metaphysics is the queen of both sciences and arts.
